Resource has started using OpenDNS on the broadband connection. This provides a degree of content filtering and security by denying access to blacklisted sites.
OpenDNS is a free service which anyone can subscribe to. At one level you can use the DNS service for your internet connection without signing up, this just replaces your ISP's DNS server that turns a name like www.bbc.co.uk into an address like 67.215.65.132 to allow your PC to communicate with it. OpenDNS does more than a standard ISP by blacklisting known fraudulent or phishing sites for your protection.
By creating an account you can configure filters that limit access from your connection to certain types of site, for example adult content.
